ABOUT US

Warwickshire Business Watch has been created in partnership between the Warwickshire County Council Community Safety Team, Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Warwickshire Police. Its main aim is to provide information and advice to businesses, helping them to protect themselves from becoming victims of crime.

The dedicated website is managed by Warwickshire County Council Community Safety Team and through this, businesses can access business and cyber advice, links to partner agencies who provide support including Trading Standards, the Safe in Warwickshire team and Action Fraud.

As well as holding free and impartial advice for businesses, the scheme offers the option to sign up to the free Warwickshire Business Watch alert system, to receive alerts on all information of relevance on the topics of business and cyber crime. The alerts will be used to notify businesses of crimes that could potentially affect them in their area, information on cyber threats but also general advice on keeping yourself and your business safe.

I am glad to support Warwickshire Business Watch that provides information, as well as advice on how to report crime for businesses of all sizes, as well as individuals.

Business crime encompasses many things; retail crime, including assaults on shop workers; cybercrime, including fraud and coercion; and more; and so, it’s true impact should never be underestimated. That is why initiatives such as this, that help protect businesses and people from becoming victims of crime, are essential. We will continue to make sure we are doing everything we can in Warwickshire to reduce crime as well as support those who have been affected by it.

What Is Business Watch?

Business Watch takes the “neighbours looking out for neighbours” concept to the commercial level, creating a partnership between local businesses, law enforcement agencies and other supportive organisations that represent business interests.

The Business Watch objective is to take control of what happens in your business community and reduce chances of becoming a victim of crime.

Warwickshire Business Watch has a website to provide information and advice to businesses, helping them to protect themselves from crime and anti-social behaviour.

Business Watch schemes actively reduce and prevent crime through partnership working and promotion of crime prevention measures and activities. Programs vary according to local need; however, successful groups adhere to these fundamental aims and objectives:

· Promote communication and understanding between law enforcement and local businesses.
· Encourage and enhance cooperation among businesses and business owners.
· Enhanced understanding of crime prevention techniques, watch over neighbouring businesses and document and report suspicious activity.
· Develop a telephone tree and/or email distribution list to quickly disseminate information about crime in the area or when someone needs help.

Building a strong partnership aims to keep a community strong and protected when a crime or emergency takes place.
