MARTYN STEPHENS
Crime Reduction /Community Safety Team Leader
I am employed by Warwickshire County Council as part of their Community Safety Team and I am based in a multi-agency Harm Hub in Warwickshire Justice Centre in Nuneaton. I was a Detective Sergeant with Warwickshire Police completing 30 years’ service in 2010. I was the Crime Reduction Manager for the force and have Home Office qualifications in Crime Prevention and Designing out Crime as well as qualifications with the Jill Dando Institute UCL for Crime Prevention and Community Safety. Since 2010 I have worked for WCC using the skill and knowledge of crime reduction to deliver projects in the community to reduce crime and the fear of crime in partnership with other agencies. The Rural Crime project is the biggest project to date.
MARK ENGLISH
Design Out Crime Officer DOCO
I am employed by Warwickshire Police as a Crime Prevention Design Advisor. I carried out my time as a serving police officer but was re-employed, on retirement, in my current role due to my experience. I cover the whole of North Warwickshire. I have completed Home Office courses in crime prevention and designing out crime. I carry out crime prevention projects working very closely with the rural and business crime coordinators and local police officers. I support with Business Watch, working with 2 Police Volunteers and the Business Crime Advisor in the growth and development of the scheme. I also liaise with planning departments, architects and developers to design out crime development sites so they do not become crime hot spots such as those built in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

I am employed by Warwickshire Police as a Crime Prevention Design Advisor. I retired as serving police officer 9 years ago but was re-employed, on retirement, in my current role due to my experience. I cover the Southern Districts of Leamington,Warwick and Stratford Upon Avon. I have completed Home Office courses in crime prevention and designing out crime. Like my colleague in the North of the county I carry out crime prevention projects working very closely with the rural and business crime coordinators and local police officers. I support victims of crime offering advice in respect of security to prevent further victimization. I support with Business Watch, working with Police Volunteers and the Business Crime Advisor. I also liaise with planning departments, architects and developers to design out crime development sites so they do not become the crime hot spots of the future.
BOGDAN FIRONDA
Business Crime Advisor BCA
I am employed by Warwickshire County Council as part of their Community Safety Team working from a multi-agency Harm Hub in Warwickshire Justice Centre in Nuneaton. I hold a BA degree in Criminology and a Masters degree in Terrorism, International Crime and Global Security and use my knowledge, skills and past experience to carry out crime prevention projects working closely with the cyber and rural crime coordinators, as well as the Police and other partner agencies. I also contribute to enhancing and expanding our partnership with various government agencies and business groups in order to share best practices and reduce crime and fear of crime among the business communities across Warwickshire.

    Maintaining a central hub for data sharing that’s recognised by the police and the business community as the most effective platform for gathering intelligence across Warwickshire.
  • Information
    Project is based on a two-way exchange of information. Bringing together information from across the business sector and combining it with police and public sector intelligence to help identify the scale of potential criminal threats.
  • Framework
    Helping our members see the bigger picture and the full extent of the potential threat of prolific or persistent offenders, issuing alerts on trends and patterns to help all businesses better understand any potential risks and how they might use their resources to reduce them.
  • Parterships
    Being recognised for public-to-private data sharing, the Business Watch Project relies on exchanging intelligence for a more efficient solution to deterring crime that affect businesses in the area. Working in partnership with local authorities, partner agencies, businesses and groups of businesses, Business Watch acts as a single point of contact for all members, creating a safer business community across the county.
  • Sustainability
    Funded through the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Business Watch ensures to remain an independent, not-for-profit and impartial scheme for all businesses and relevant organisations.

Warwickshire County Council have a Business Crime Advisor in post who is funded through the Police and Crime Commissioner and who will be developing training packages, resources and acting as a single point of contact for businesses across Warwickshire.
